The Department of Physiology and Pharmacology in the University of Georgia’s College of Veterinary Medicine seeks a visionary and experienced chair, who will accelerate our upward trajectory and growth. Departmental faculty teach and perform research on the physiological, pharmacological, nutritional, neurological, toxicological, and computational foundations of disease and therapeutics, including systems biology, bioinformatics, and predictive modeling. As such, our research is far-reaching, exploring all aspects of physiology and pharmacology and seeking solutions to some of today’s most pressing health issues. Similarly, our educational mission is dynamic and reaches a growing number of undergraduate, graduate and professional students.
We offer a PhD in Integrative Physiology and Pharmacology, are part of UGA’s Interdisciplinary Toxicology and Neuroscience Programs, and support our home college’s dual DVM-PhD program. We also have a thesis M.S. program in physiology and pharmacology in Comparative Biomedical Science and a non-thesis, professional Master’s program with an area of emphasis in physiology and pharmacology as part of the CBS program. The Department also is home to UGA’s fastest growing undergraduate major, Biomedical Physiology.
Further, the Chair of this department will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the future of Medicine and Health Sciences at the University of Georgia, as new Schools of Medicine and Nursing will be joining the established UGA health-related Colleges of Pharmacy, Public Health and Veterinary Medicine in shared initiatives.
