Faculty Position in Nutrition

The Department of Clinical Sciences in the College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the Section of Nutrition. Candidates must have a degree in Veterinary Medicine from an accredited veterinary school.  Board certification from the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Nutrition) or European College of Veterinary and Comparative Nutrition is preferred, but candidates who have recently completed an approved residency in Internal Medicine (Nutrition) and are eligible to sit the board certification examination of the DACVIM (nutrition) or ECVCN will be considered.

The successful candidate will be overseeing an established service in the Cornell University Hospital for Animals, a comprehensive teaching and referral center with state-of-the-art facilities and equipment. The candidate will be expected to provide excellent clinical care and client communication, effective didactic and laboratory instruction to veterinary students and active continuing education to the veterinary community. The successful candidate will develop or continue an independent funded research program in addition to conducting collaborative research. Extensive opportunities for collaborative research exist at the College and University, including Weill Medical College and technology campuses in New York City.

The candidate should exhibit outstanding interpersonal skills and a cooperative work ethic that will interface well with all sections of the hospital. Distribution of effort in the Section and Department will be determined in accordance with the service needs, academic priorities, and the candidate’s expertise and academic goals in nutrition. Commitment percentages to clinical teaching and service in the Cornell University Hospital for Animals, lecture and laboratory instruction of veterinary students and house officers, and independent and collaborative research are negotiable. Clinical duties require flexible working hours that may include daytime, evening, and occasional weekend responsibilities.

The salary range for this position is $135,000-$180,000. Salary, rank, and title will be commensurate with academic credentials and experience.
