The School of Fisheries, Aquaculture and Aquatic Sciences (SFAAS) in the College of Agriculture at Auburn University is seeking applications for the position of Assistant or Associate Professor in Aquatic Genomics. This position will be a nine-month, tenure-track position with 80% research and 20% teaching appointment. The projected start date is August 2026.
Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be expected to establish a dynamic, innovative, and externally funded research program in Aquatic Genomics. The research program should primarily focus on the functional genomics of aquatic species, supporting both the land-grant mission and the mission of SFAAS. Candidates conducting research in related areas within aquatic systems, including Aquaculture Genomics; Fisheries Genomics; Comparative Genomics; Metagenomics and Microbiome Genomics; Transcriptomics, Proteomics, and Metabolomics; Epigenomics; Bioinformatics, Big Data and Systems Genomics; and Environmental and Ecological Genomics are also encouraged to apply. Candidates developing novel statistical, machine learning, or artificial intelligence approaches and applying such methods to aquatic genomic data are likewise encouraged to apply. Previous experience working with aquatic species is preferred; however, applicants with experience in other animal, plant, and microbial systems will also be considered, provided their future research program focuses on aquatic organisms. The successful candidate will be expected to collaborate effectively with SFAAS faculty as well as colleagues across the university. They will also be responsible for teaching course(s) related to the application of genomics to the fields of aquaculture, fisheries, and other aquatic sciences. The successful candidate is expected to be involved in SFAAS, college, and university committee service.
